Basketball Jersey
Basketball Jersey

Among the most highly prized possessions that any college basketball player can hope for is their college basketball jersey. The college basketball jersey represents a feeling of pride and belonging to the team.

But the feeling is not restricted to the team. Jerseys are also prized by fellow students, who show up at college games dressed in the same colors to cheer on their team.

Anyone who loves the game will have a favorite team and player. Wearing their jersey creates a special bond.

Some Like It Hot

Due to the heat of indoor playing conditions, basketball jerseys are made of thin material, mostly of mock mesh, dazzle, tricot mesh or pro mesh materials. Jerseys are always sleeveless because long sleeved jerseys would cause the players to sweat too much, creating not only uncomfortable conditions, but unhealthy ones as well. The jerseys are also worn long and loose with large armholes for ventilation.

The NCAA is very strict about the way basketball jerseys are worn on the court and requires all players to tuck in their jerseys.

Color, Numbers And Styles

The tank top jerseys are worn with shorts, which are long and baggy with stretchable waistbands and drawstrings. Each jersey is embossed with the team logo, player number and team name. Every college team likes to customize its basketball jersey, and comes up with a unique color plan.

There are a number of manufacturers who produce wonders with the jersey designs and styles. Reversible jerseys use contrasting fabric on both the inside and outside surfaces, so that they can be worn either way.

The player’s number is required to be on both the back and the front of the jersey. The height of these numbers is required to be 8 inches on the back and 6 inches on the front side. The names of the players are printed in 2-inch high letters. Shortly after 9/11, the NCAA began to allow players to wear the American flag on the jerseys using a 4-inch side insert for this purpose.

Collector’s Items

The demand for replica college jerseys always goes up when the NCAA tournament season begins. There is also a big demand for jerseys worn by the top basketball stars. These replica jerseys, available at several online stores, make a great collector’s item for the avid basketball fan.

Throwback Nba

Many fans of the game of basketball remember the glory days of players such as Magic Johnson, Isaiah Thomas, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and yes, even Dennis Rodman. NBA throwback jerseys, those that celebrate these pillars of the game, are a must for not just basketball enthusiasts but fashion-savvy sport lovers everywhere. What better to show your respect to those who served as cornerstones of your favorite game than to proudly wear one of their jerseys?

There are a couple of things to remember about purchasing NBA throwback jerseys. One of the most important is to be picky about whose name you want on your back. For example, true basketball enthusiasts may remember the name Bernard King, but anyone outside of Washington might now. Wouldn’t it be better to choose a Larry Bird or Reggie Miller jersey? When wearing an NBA throwback jersey, you want people to know that you’re proud of the game and the player, not have them think that you don’t even know whose name is on your shirt.

Also, make the jersey something important to you. If your hometown is Detroit, there’s nothing better than an NBA throwback jersey from the glory days of the 1980’s, when the Bad Boys ruled the court. You can be proud to wear Bill Laimbeer or Joe Dumars on your shirt no matter where you are now. Let people know that this was your home team and that they still are today.

Your NBA throwback jersey should be something special to you, not just another fashion statement or accessory. If you don’t have a favorite player from years past, then get one. Read up on your home team’s history and find out what makes these players household names. Only by really appreciating the player’s name and the team’s name that you’re wearing will your NBA throwback jersey be something special to you.

Now if you are ready to jump in and own your first NBA throwback jersey, do your research and check out this collection of NBA throwback jerseys before you open up your checkbook.

How can I search for the value of an NBA throwback jersey I have?

The throwback game is basically dead right now. With all the fakes out there and it’s so hard to tell the difference between what’s real and what’s fake so it’ll be pretty hard to move a throwback. That is, unless you’re selling to a die hard fan. Good luck!

Michael Jordan

Michael Jordan
Michael Jordan

It seems like every time a new, high powered NBA player comes along, people ask the same question. “Can this guy be the next Michael Jordan?” Everyone wants to see another MJ, and ever since he retired, we’ve heard the mantra over and over again.

In the 1990s, it was Harold Miner after he won his first dunk contest. People were even calling him “Baby Jordan”. Then, later that decade, it was Kobe Bryant. Bryant’s game resembled Jordan’s in many ways, and their height and physical builds were both very similar. In some respects, it seemed that Kobe had emulated Jordan’s game, leading many to believe that Kobe was the “next Michael Jordan”.

More recently, it’s been LeBron James, and even Kevin Durant to a degree. Everyone wants to see another Jordan, but no one to date has matched his accomplishments, leading many to wonder if there ever will be another Michael Jordan again.

The truth of the matter is that Michael Jordan was an extremely special breed of player. He may be that once in a lifetime sensation that we hear baseball fans speak of when they mention the impact of Babe Ruth.

At the end of the day, there will never be another Jordan again, simply for one reason. Jordan was his own kind of player, and while there may be other players just as good as him (or better), they will be themselves, with their own playing style and attributes. Jordan will be Jordan and they will be themselves.

Michael Jordan?

Why is michael jordan so important to pop culture?

how does michael jordan impact the individual, society and pop culture?

discuss what “pop culture” would be like without this icon.

To be honest, I could care less about Michael Jordan RIGHT NOW. I appreciate what he did for the game of basketball and was a fan when he was playing. However I think at this point the league is more talented than it has ever been and we should appreciate the hard work that our current stars put in night in and night out and stop dwelling on the past. Time moves forward and we need to move with it.
